England Day 20: A Scotsman and an Englishman walk onto a train....

Today was a CRAZY day. We had a whole day of work and then we planned on leaving right after to catch the train to Scotland. When we got to work, we performed our blitz and a skit. We did the Royal Paper Skit. The Queen is looking for her Royal Paper and everything the villagers bring is not it. Tissue paper, construction paper, streamers, and newspaper until someone finally brings her toilet paper. The kids definitely thought it was funny and they loved it. :)

After blitz, I had to run the Patriotic Club by myself. It went very well. We finished an American Tail and then played pin the tail on the wig. The kids really liked it and had a lot of fun playing it. They played for a good half hour. Then I had to switch back to homeroom for lunch. We work on some programming and then we ordered tickets for a bus tour of Scotland. We'll get to see a lot and should be fun.

After lunch, we came back for rotating activities. I got to run the gym where we played four corners. One kid would be in the middle with a blindfold. They would count back from 10 and then call out a corner number. The rest of the kids would run to one of four corners. If their corner number was called, they would be out and then the rest of the kid would run around and find another corner while the person in the middle counted back from 10 again. The kids really liked it.

After rotating activities, the kids had free choice. I sat in room 2 playing games with the kids until I was called out to help set up for closing. On Fridays, we always have closing and Camp A presents along with cream the counselor. I set up the plates of whipped cream and then went to Camp A presents. Each club got to present what they did during the week. It was really fun and interesting. Then we had cream the counselor. Each counselor picked a kid that had the most bucket fillers and they would get to choose a counselor to cream. This week everyone got creamed except me! Two weeks in a row without being creamed. I don't think I'll be so lucky the rest of the summer. lol.

After cream the counselor, we changed quickly so that Brandy could take us to the train station. We got in the van around 445 and headed to the train station which was 15 minutes away. Well we didn't account for the traffic. Brandy said it usually is not like it was but there must have been some construction or an accident or something. We had to catch our train at 521 so we could get to connect to another train in Ely. So we hopped out of the van and started to try and run towards the station. We didn't get very far before Brandy pulled along side of us and said to hop back in because the station was too far and we wouldn't make it. So we got in and she decided to drive us to Ely. It was about a half our away and she booked it there. We had to catch a train at 608 otherwise we wouldn't make it to Scotland. We told her she didn't have to drive us but she felt bad that we missed the first one. We made it with four minutes to spare. We were so grateful that Brandy took us to the station. She is too good to us.

On the way from Ely to Peterborough we had to stand for a while. It was only a 40 minute ride but we definitely wanted to sit. When we got to Peterborough, we had to wait for another train to take us all the way to Edinburgh, Scotland. While we were waiting, the intercom came on and told us that the train we would be catching would be late because someone had been struck but the train! We're not sure if they died or were injured the train was gonna be delayed awhile. We just weren't having the best luck with trains. There was another train to Edinburgh a little later so we hopped on that one.

The train ride went pretty well. We weren't all sitting together at first but then we were able to get two tables to sit at and we could all talk and hang out. When we stopped about an hour and a half before our final stop, two guys got on and sat in our car. About 10 minutes later, they came up and started talking to us, offering to buy us drinks. One had a little too much to drink but was really funny and the other was actually his boss. So funny. lol. Robert and Callum were their names. Robert really liked one of the girls from our group. He kept telling her how her eyes made his heart melt and that she had the best eyes in the world. Robert gave her his sunglasses and Callum gave his necklace that he's been wearing for 3 years to another girl. When they got off the train, Robert kept running after the train to keep up with us. We were so scared for him. So dumb. lol. But it was definitely an interesting night on the train.

After we finally arrived in Edinburgh, we walked to our dorm and passed out. It had been a long day and we definitely needed to go to bed. Saturday we are doing a bus tour from 8-8 all around Scotland. It will be amazing!!!

Cheerio.
