England Day 11: Lots and lots of Rain

Today was a pretty good day. It rained a bunch! We were supposed to have a water day today but we couldn't have the kids play outside because of the storms. The kids we're definitely bummed but we had fun things for them to do.

Started off like any other day. Got picked up early and went to the youth center to get ready for camp. Got everything all set up and practiced our songs for the morning. I was a little crabby this morning. Definitely was not in the mood to sing, but got into when the kids arrived. I just want to make them smile so I get pepped up when they are there.

After that we went to clubs which went well. Had the kids make paintings of them doing different sports. They really like making paintings in our club. Hopefully we will make a book of all their paintings at the end of the week.During out club, we found out that one of the hamsters had gone missing. Someone had apparently left the cage open the night before and both hamsters got out. One was found on the floor next to the table where the cage was but the other is still MIA. Definitely a bit of a crazy morning. lol.

We then had lunch made by the wonderful Mr. Marlon again. He definitely makes amazing food. After we ate, I sat with four kids to play go fish. It was the cutest came of go fish ever. There were two girls and two boys. When they asked for a card, they would say, "My Dear, do you have a 6." "No my darling, go fish." "Thank you handsome prince." It was the cutest thing ever. We were acting all proper and asking very kindly for the cards. Those boys and girls were adorable! Made me smile and in a good mood.

After that, Camp A had an hour planning/lunch break. We took the time to finish programming for next week. Two other girls and I are working on Star Spangled Banner Week. We got a lot done during lunch and finished it later tonight.

After our break, we went into rotating activities. At Alix and my station we played a game called barnyard. Alix and I would whisper an animal in their ear and once everyone got one, they closed their eyes and had to make the sound of the animal they were given. They had to crawl on the floor and find the rest of the group. It was definitely very funny to watch the kids crawling around making animals sounds. They really enjoyed the game as well.

After rotating activities, I was stationed in the gym for the rest of the day. Definitely craziness in there. My mood got worse because a kid was picking up something that I was trying to pick up and he whipped his head back and nailed me in the forehead. I had a huge headache the rest of the day until I got back. Had to lie down when I got back and take some ibuprofen. I feel much better now but it definitely hurt.

I made dinner and finished programming with my group. We finished out week of programming so I will be able to relax for the next few days. After programming, I sat around and watched TV and relaxed from beginning on my feet and helping with kids all day. We're trying to plan our weekend. Thinking of going to Bath and Stonehenge. A good weekend trip. I'll make sure to post lot of pictures.

Cheerio.
